Frequently Asked Questions

Are homeopathy and cranio-sacral therapy compatible with medicines given to me by my doctor?
Homeopathic remedies and Cranio-Sacral Therapy are completely safe and will not affect any medication you are taking. They are compatible with conventional treatment from your GP and both work well with many other therapies.
Details of any prescribed medication should be given to your homeopath during consultation. If you feel unsure, check with your doctor and homeopath before starting treatment.

Will I have to undress during a cranio-sacral session?
No. Cranio-Sacral Therapy is carried out with the patient lying fully clothed on a treatment couch.

How long does treatment generally last?
Homeopathy: The first homeopathic consultation generally lasts about an hour and subsequent follow-ups between 30-40 mins. The length of treatment is dependent on the circumstances of the individual case. The length of time between follow-ups will also vary according to the severity of the condition being treated, however, most follow-ups have an interval of 3-4 weeks.

Whilst treatment duration varies from patient to patient and is generally determined by the condition being treated, it is recommended that a minimum of 3 to 6 sessions be undertaken in order to get the best results from homeopathic treatment.

Cranio-sacral therapy: Cranio-sacral sessions generally last one hour, however for babies and children under the age of 5, half hour sessions are recommended.

Are there any side-effects to homeopathic treatment?
Homeopathy is an extremely safe and non-toxic form of medicine and the side-effects which can be a dangerous and unpleasant consequence of taking conventional medicines are not an issue when taking homeopathic remedies.
Some patients may experience a slight and temporary worsening of symptoms after taking remedies, followed by a rapid improvement in their symptoms. This reaction is normal, transient and a good sign that the body's natural deffences have been activated and are working to stimulate the natural immunity and health of the patient's system.

Can Homeopathy and Cranio-Sacral Therapy be used to treat babies and children?
Homeopathy is an excellent therapy for all ages, and it is especially popular with parents looking to support their childrens health via natural means. As a gentle yet highly effective system of medicine it is ideal for babies and children. Remedies are easy to dispense and the natural substances that form homeopathic medicine mean that they are safe to use in the very young, including newborn babies. More than that, homeopathy can raise the immunity of your children to help deal with illness throughout their childhood.

Homeopathy not only helps when your child is ill. It can also help prevent illness and give support through difficult periods of their life.

Cranio-sacral therapy is particularly relevant for babies and children for several reasons:
• It is so gentle and non-invasive. Babies can be treated while asleep, feeding or cradled in their mother's arms.
• Cranio-sacral therapy is particularly effective at relieving many common childhood conditions, including colic, ear infections, poor sleep, restlessness and many others.
• It is uniquely effective in dealing with the effects of the birth process - both the compressive forces exerted on the skull and the shock effect of a traumatic birth - with its many possible consequences such as dyslexia, learning difficulties, hyperactivity, behavioural disorders, epilepsy, autism, squint and cerebral palsy
• By ironing out the various effects of injury and illness as they develop, cranio-sacral therapy can create a balanced and well integrated physical, mental and emotional state. This should ensure that your child not only enjoys a happier, healthier childhood, but also grows up to make maximum use of their potential.

Once any fundamental problems have been resolved, we recommend regular checkups - every 3 months for babies, every 6 months for children - to resolve the effects of any falls, injuries or illnesses which are an inevitable part of childhood: thereby ensuring optimum health and happiness.
